LOSING & WINNING

Not to brag, but I got more than a few trophies in my day. When I left home I took two with me. My John Philip Sousa Award and My Drum Major Superior Award from USA Drum Majors Camp.

Ok. That was a full-on brag. I’m not going to lie.

Every time I went home to see my family, my mom would offer to help me pack the rest of them up so I could take them with me. I would always insist that she keep them around to show them off to visitors.

I couldn’t tell if she felt proud or annoyed every time I left with out taking any of those plastic and wood dust collectors with me.
