Taking my mom out to eat at a Mexican restaurant was always a bad bet. There was no way the cook was going to come out unscathed.

Like my amá likes to say "It's not their fault, they were just raised wrong."

On the other hand, Chinese restaurants could do no wrong! Even the most middle-of-the-road Chinese food was better than your best Mexican food.
